Products and Services

The BuildingIQ Energy Management System is an innovative new solution to reduce energy cost and emissions in commercial properties. BuildingIQ delivers:

  1. Hard cost savings from energy cost reduction, reduced HVAC operating expenses and deferred plant capex
  2. Improvements to property valuation from increased income and green star ratings such as NABERS
  3. Potential revenue from demand response programs
  4. Reduced emissions
  5. A more attractive, competitive property or property fund
  6. Increased tenant retention

BuildingIQ

BuildingIQ acts as an automated supervisory control system for HVAC systems in commercial buildings, designed to reduce energy consumption, operating costs and CO2 emissions. It connects to most existing building management and control systems (BMCS) using industry standard interfaces and is compatible with both new and existing building stock.

BuildingIQ is delivered as a software solution on an appliance and requires no infrastructure upgrades or capital expenditures.

BuildingIQ leverages information from the existing BMCS as well as external data feeds (delivered from a central BuildingIQ server) to learn the thermal dynamics of a building and intelligently alter the operation of a building’s HVAC system. BuildingIQ determines optimal start times, temperature set-points and other relevant system parameters.

BuildingIQ continually optimises the HVAC operation by pre-planning HVAC start times and adjusting set points throughout the day. This results in significant reduction in energy consumption and operating costs, while maintaining occupant comfort.

Although BuildingIQ is fully automated, building operators can set key preferences to influence how it operates. It also includes a manual override to revert control back to the existing control system if required.

ComfortIQ

ComfortIQ is a desktop software application designed to survey tenant comfort while raising energy awareness, promote thermal acceptability and encourage energy saving behavior.

ComfortIQ enables real-time comfort feedback via a customisable electronic comfort survey which can be issued on-demand by a building operator to any number of occupants, or initiated by the occupants themselves if they feel uncomfortable at any time. The data obtained from the comfort survey is stored in a centralised database, and can be used in calculating occupant comfort and satisfaction levels, for use assisting building operators in fine-tuning HVAC controls and building operation, or as direct input into the automated BuildingIQ control system. Occupants are also able to provide additional feedback on their current indoor environment, including the reporting of faults.

ComfortIQ also informs building occupants about the current status of a building’s Heating, Ventilation & Air-Conditioning (HVAC) system, electricity price tariffs (e.g. time of use, critical peak pricing) and other key energy performance indicators, as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1. ComfortIQ software, indicating a peak demand period via a red colour-coded icon, with a pop-up notification alerting the occupant that a change in HVAC mode has occurred.

ComfortIQ exists as a small icon that appears in the system tray of an occupant’s personal computer. This icon is colour-coded to allow occupants to quickly and easily determine the current HVAC mode of operation. An associated pop-up notification appears when the HVAC mode changes, informing occupants of a change in conditions.
