The Human Element of BuildingIQ

I spend most of my workdays on the phone talking to people about how BuildingiQ’s services can help them solve their building management problems. The majority of those conversations, which typically are with facilities personnel, have a common message: they know their buildings could/should be more efficient. But with all their day-to-day activities, hot/cold calls, maintenance tasks, etc., they don’t have the bandwidth to even look for ways to improve a building’s energy use or overall operations. Yet, they know they need to do something different.

I could talk to you about our AI-driven 5i Platform of technology-enabled services and how we can make your building smarter. But, that’s not what I want to tell you right now. What I’m more interested to share with you is that we spend a lot of time talking about trendy terms like algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, the Internet of Things, cloud-based solutions, etc. But at the end of the day, one of the most valuable aspects of what we offer to our customers is the building optimization expertise from our Network Operations Center (NOC). Day in and day out, our team of experts reviews and analyzes building data for our customers. Through this data, they are able to identify costly system faults, troubleshoot, diagnose and analyze root problems, and deliver actionable reports. As one client in Australia put it, our team becomes “the ears and eyes of your building,” so you don’t have to. Our team of experts is only a phone call away, 24/7. They quickly become trusted members of your team, collaborating directly to ensure your building and all its systems are running at their best.  Simply put we keep YOU out of trouble.

How we do it

First, we start by learning all about your building and your pain-points. We ask you to fill out a site evaluation form, so we get a better understanding of your building. Then, we leverage the best technology that is available in the industry: sensors, meters, gateways to connect our platform to your building’s BMS, etc. And after a few weeks, we’re up and running, monitoring the performance of your building. Soon after, you start getting detailed and actionable reporting to help you better manage your building.

Frankly, it’s all very simple. The investment is typically very small, especially if you take into consideration what you get in return. Not only do you get a “well-oiled” building, but you get peace of mind knowing that all its systems are running as they should. The energy savings you can get, well… that’s just icing on the cake.

We work with almost all types of non-residential buildings. To date, we work with hospitals, hotels, schools, colleges, and universities, office buildings, etc.
